What you can expect in our services

Sincere Worship

Each Sunday we come together as a Christian family to celebrate and worship God. We desire to worship God authentically with all of our heart and soul. We will sing loudly at times – not always in tune and be more reflective at other times. We don’t just want to go through the motions of singing a few songs but praise God from a grateful heart. Often the worship leader will invite the congregation to sing a song to God from the heart. It is beautiful to listen to people pouring out their hearts to God.
People will raise their hands during worship as David, Ezra, Solomon and others did in the Bible. They do so as a humble act of surrender to God. You can find examples of this occuring in the Bible – Psalm 28:2, 63:4, 134:2, 141:2, Lamentations 2:19, Nehemiah 8:6, and 1 Kings 8:22 & 54. In 1 Timothy 2:8 the Apostle Paul expresses his desire that in every place men and women should pray, lifting holy hands.
Some people may sing or pray to God directly from their spirit in a language of Holy Spirit – referred to as a tongue. People who sing or pray in this way are not doing so to draw attention to themselves but to intimately connect with God. The Apostle Paul prayed and sang with his spirit and also with his mind (1 Corinthians 14:15). The Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues are not to be feared and we are not to ignore or supress the work of the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19-20). The Apostle Paul encourages all believers to eagerly desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:31 & 14:1) and not to be ignorant about them (1 Corinthians 12:1). If you would like to know more about the gifts of the Spirit please ask and we would love to go into more detail with you.

Experience God

The Bible says that God dwells in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). So it is normal for people to experience God’s presence, love and or power at anytime during the service. It is not uncommon for people to weep or feel a peace or joy because we are praising Him.
In Biblical times, there was an occasion where the power of God filled the temple and the priests could not minister to the people (1 Kings 8:10-11). On another occasion the presence of God came upon Saul and those who were with him and they all fell to the ground under the presence of Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles and they beghan to speak in tonques. As a result, some believed in God and others mocked them and accused them of being drunk.
Experiencing God in any of these ways is super cool but does not make you more or less spiritual than someone else. It just means that you are experiencing the presence of God. We encourage you to pursue God and not the experience of God. Experiencing God will not necessarily make you more like Jesus, but getting to know God will.

Learn About God

The Bible is described by the brother of Jesus, James as a mirror. We are meant to look into the word of God and see who we have been created to be and then to walk that way. We do not need human wisdom or logic – in fact most of the time these principles are contrary to what God would advise. Therefore we will only preach and teach what the Bible literally says on a subject.
The goal of every sermon is to inspire you to action – to put into practice what has been preached. Jesus taught that if you put into practice all that he commanded then no matter what storm in life you faced you would not fall. Therefore, we will leave you with a challenge at the end to walk out what has been preached.

Prayer

There will be an opportunity for you to ask Jesus to come into your life. If you want to begin a relationship with Jesus they will help you do this. They will explain the need to repent – deciding that you will turn from living life your own way to living a life like Jesus lived. They will then lead you in a prayer. We encourage that if you desire this that you would be bold and respond to the invitation. Having a relationship with Jesus is the very best thing that could happen in your life. It is something to be embraced and not kept private.
There is also an opportunity to receive prayer for any reason. We also pray for the sick. Normally we will place a hand on your body and command the sickness to leave your body in keeping with the teaching of Jesus. On many occasions we see people healed immediately and sometimes later. The Bible teaches that we are to pray with faith and persistantly until our prayer is answered. We will continue to pray for you as long as you desire.
We are convinced that God still heals people today. The Senior Pastor of this church, Lionel Rattenbury has been involved in more than 300 healings including five people who were blind in one eye, two deaf people, one mute man and a woman with severe curvature of the spine. Ask him to show you the videos of some of these miracles. Photos taken before and after praying for the woman with curvature of the spine show the miraculous healing. This condition cannot be cured by moden medical treatments.

We believe that God can use anyoine to heal the sick as the Bible teaches so. If you have the desire to be used in this way please see Lionel.
During the service someone may share a prophesy or word of knowledge for the church generally or for someone specifically. Prophesy and words of knowledge are gifts of the Holy Spirit. Again, these gifts from God are for the good of people. They are intended to build up and encourage people. The Bible says that we are not to despise prophecy but to test everything that is said and to hold on to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21).
We praise God that we can know Him through relationship and that He still reveals His power and love to people today. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Lionel on 0404 803 055.
